NPS America 2008 – 2009 Year-end Awards Program

Overview

The purpose of the NPS America Awards program is to encourage and reward purebred and part bred Mountain & Moorland (M&M) and British Riding Ponies (BRPs) for successfully participating in a variety of activities. The NPS America Awards program consists of two branches:

  • Achievement Awards are designed to reward ponies for success in M&M specific competitions (at this time, BRPs are not eligible for Achievement Awards).
  • Recognition Awards are designed to reward both M&Ms and BRPs for success in a variety of equestrian disciplines.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements for participation in this program include:

  • The owner, rider and/or lessee of the pony must be a current NPS America member in good standing. The one exception to this requirement is the NPS America M&M In-hand Championship rosettes awarded at individual events. (See Section on Special Awards for additional information).
  • Eligible breeds include the British Shetland, Connemara, Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Welsh and British Riding Ponies and their part bred counterparts.
  • All purebred ponies must be registered with their respective approved breed societies. Part bred ponies must be registered if a part bred registry exists for their respective breed(s). Each breed has its own registration requirements for both purebred and part bred registration. It is the responsibility of the pony’s owner/NPS America member to know the rules regarding registration for their individual breed. (Further clarification of part bred eligibility is underdevelopment.)
  • Ponies must be shown under their full registered name.

Accumulation of Points

Points are awarded over a calendar year (January – December). Points gained at individual breed society events (ACPS, FPSNA, WPCSA, etc.) are not eligible for inclusion in the NPS America Achievement Awards Program, but will be eligible for NPS America Recognition Awards programs.
